Get to know us
Wihda is a bilingual platform dedicated to amplifying voices from North Africa and the Middle East. We publish stories that span the region’s political, cultural, and literary landscapes, from analyses of geopolitics and social change to literary criticism and the evolving shapes of art and identity. At Wihda, we seek to create space for nuance and connection across the Arabic-speaking world and its diasporas.
Our mission
Wihda’s mission is to deliver clear, reliable, and intellectually honest reporting on North Africa, the Middle East, and the wider Arab world. We aim to cut through noise with accurate journalism, grounded analysis, and thoughtful cultural insight. By publishing in both English and Arabic, we provide a platform that amplifies authentic regional voices and deepens public understanding of politics, society, and identity across the region.
Our vision
Wihda’s vision is to become a leading bilingual source for serious, modern Middle Eastern journalism—uniting factual reporting, cultural depth, and accessible analysis. We seek to build a trusted space where readers can engage with informed perspectives, nuanced debate, and diverse narratives from the Arab world and its diasporas. Our goal is to shape a more connected, informed, and intellectually confident regional discourse.
Our team
Our strength comes from the diversity of voices behind Wihda. Founded by Asma Issa, our team brings together journalists, analysts, researchers, editors, and cultural writers from across the Middle East, North Africa, and the diaspora. Each contributor brings deep regional knowledge, linguistic range, and subject-matter expertise. Together, we work to deliver clear reporting, grounded analysis, and meaningful perspectives that reflect the complexity of the Arab world.
